Sam & Max Special Color Collection by Steve PurcellSteve Ross Purcell is an American cartoonist, animator and game designer. He is most widely known as the creator of Sam & Max, an independent comic book series about a pair of anthropomorphic animal vigilantes and private investigators, for which Purcell received an Eisner Award in 2007. The series has since grown to incorporate an animated television series and several video games. A graduate of the California College of Arts and Craft, Purcell began his career creating comic strips for the college newsletter. He performed freelance work for Marvel Comics and Fishwrap Productions before publishing his first Sam & Max comic in 1987. Purcell was hired by LucasArts as an artist and animator in 1988, working on several titles within the companys adventure games era.
Purcell collaborated with Nelvana to create a Sam & Max television series in 1997, and briefly worked as an animator for Industrial Light & Magic after leaving LucasArts. He is currently employed in the story development department at Pixar. His main work for the animation studio has been with the 2006 film Cars and spin-off materials such as shorts and video games. Despite his employment with Pixar, Purcell has continued to work with comic books and came together with Telltale Games in 2005 to bring about new series of Sam & Max video games.

Like its predecessor, Freelance Police was a Point and Click Adventure Game , but it was also the franchise's first foray into 3D animation. When they got there, they saw that there was pigs blood everywhere. All of a sudden the honor society went into a trance and began a suspiciously well-choreographed musical number. At the climax of the chorus, they all pointed at the Freelance Police , and started chanting about the "Chosen One. As it is aimed at children, the violence inherent in the franchise is toned down, and the characters do not use the moderate profanity that they use in their other appearances. The series first aired in November 3, on the FOX television network , producing 24 episodes and winning the Gemini Award for "Best Animated Series" before being canceled in April With the exception of the first and last episodes, which each had a running time of about 20 minutes, each episode was approximately 10 minutes in length, excluding commercials, and the episodes were usually aired in pairs. The assignments usually lead them into far-off and exotic locales such as the Moon , Mount Olympus, the center of the Earth or the mutant inhabited waters of Bohunk lagoon. In between these official adventures, the pair also manage to squeeze in fridge-spelunking, time-travelling, Bigfoot -hunting and numerous other escapades. Holiday episodes, such as visiting Blood Island on Christmas and delivering an artificial heart on Valentine's Day, were also included. Selected episodes from the series had been released in three separate compilations on VHS by Sullivan Entertainment.
