With the help of some very dear friends and volunteers, such as Nancy Bishop Secretary , we have been able to save over animals and help decrease the pet overpopulation problem in our area. Our pets come from various places giving priority to pets in Oswego and Jefferson Counties as well as local dog wardens who are only required to hold dogs for 5 days before having them humanely euthanized. Since our incorporation, we have been able to find loving homes for over of these adoptable dogs in Oswego County saving them from euthanasia.
All creatures great and small
So many dogs and cats need home but they are not alone. I tell people about our house full of pets, dogs, cats and rats and then mention they are all rescues and they say "Rats??? They were used to train dogs for ground dog or barn hunt and were going to be snake food when that was done. Nothing against snakes but they can be often taught to take pre-killed frozen which is safer for the snake as well and snakes in question did take the frozen. Hubby heard of their destiny and had pet rats as child and would have none of it.
We are dedicated to rescuing adoptable pets left homeless for whatever reason — animals in public shelters, both near and far, where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, pets given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect. We are unable to accept animals with aggression issues into our program due to the nature of our foster homes. We place adoptable animals in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a new pet into their homes and lives. Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and are placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist pets in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. To the extent our finances allow, pets in the greatest need take priority.
Why adopt Why adopt from us Adoptions include Foster based rescues get to know their residents well. We also provide excellent health care. All animals are fully vetted prior to adoption by a licensed veterinarian.
