Calvin and Hobbes (Calvin and Hobbes #1) by Bill Watterson

Strip after strip after strip.

Some books just win you over.

I too sleep with the baseball bat beside my bed to kill the monster lurking down it.

I wonder I still may not be old enough to not start doing this poll manipulation thing with my dad either.

I do not want my wife to have such a kid in the house. I want to be that kid rather.
We might consider a tiger instead.

With characters sketched up as well as these, you will be going out of your way not to give this one a 5 star.

Wonderful and addictive.

Did I say 5 stars already? Make that 5 stars plus one more for the timelessness captured.

What might amount to a seemingly harmless session of building with tinker toys really amounts to Calvin with a God complex. Bet you didn't expect that, now did you?

Perhaps the most brilliant comic strip ever created, Calvin and Hobbes is celebrating 30 years of entertaining the world with dazzling art and humor. Bill Watterson's comic duo was first introduced in newspapers in , when 6-year-old Calvin captured himself a tiger named Hobbes and the adventure began. Join Calvin and Hobbes on their amazing, imaginative journeys -- through space and time, in school and even in their own back yard -- for fun that will delight and transport you. Bill Watterson was born in Washington, D. Watterson developed his artistic talent during his high school years in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and later at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, where he studied political science. This ultimately led to a brief career as a political cartoonist for The Cincinnati Post immediately following his graduation in But Watterson's first experiment in newspapers lasted less than a year — because he was fired.
