Dino A. From the earliest days of the art form, when multiple exposures provided 'evidence' of the spirit world, to computer-enhanced digital doctoring, photography has been fertile ground for fakery. This book examines the history of all types of photographic fakery. The author, formerly one of the CIA's senior photo interpreters, presents hundreds of photographs that were contrived or altered, often succeeding greatly in their fakery by playing a part in history. He explains clearly, for the non-photographer, how these deceptions were accomplished and how to spot them. He also explores the benefits and dangers of doctored photos and the many problems raised for the legal profession.

How can you spot it? And how is it done? The book is profusely illustrated with examples never before seen by the general public. He was involved in the exploitation of U-2, SR, and satellite imagery, and discovered and analyzed World War II aerial photography taken of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. This is a fascinating book. After reading it, I found myself searching through the newspaper and magazines trying to find faked photos. It really makes you wonder about how much the media has been truthful with us over the years, and what the real story behind some of the world's most famous photos is.
