The Da Vinci Code is getting a prequel TV series
Inferno is a American mystery action thriller film directed by Ron Howard and written by David Koepp , based on the novel of the same name by Dan Brown. Harvard University professor Robert Langdon awakens in a hospital room in Florence , Italy , with no memory of what has transpired over the last few days, but being plagued with hellish visions. Sienna Brooks, one of the doctors tending to him, reveals that he is suffering from amnesia as a result of a bullet wound to the head. Another doctor says the police are there to question Langdon but the officer turns out to be Vayentha, an assassin, who shoots the doctor while heading down the hall. Sienna helps Langdon to escape, and they flee to her apartment. Among Langdon's personal belongings, Langdon and Sienna find a Faraday pointer , a miniature image projector with a modified version of Sandro Botticelli 's Map of Hell , which itself is based on Dante's Inferno. They soon realize this is the first clue in a trail left by Bertrand Zobrist, a dangerously unstable billionaire geneticist who believed that rigorous measures were necessary to reduce the Earth's growing population , and who committed suicide three days earlier after being chased by armed government agents.
Langdon became a professor at Harvard, teaching religious Symbology and Art History. After his father died, Peter Solomon became a father figure to him and when Solomon was kidnapped in Washington D. Throughout his adventures, Langdon displayed a brilliant problem-solving mind and an Eidetic Memory. By his female colleagues, Langdon was called an erudite, not much handsome in the classical sense. He was described as having probing blue eyes, fairly pale complexion, thick black hair with wisps of gray, dimpled chin, and a strong, carefree smile. Langdon is said to be a tough teacher and strict disciplinarian, but he was also a lover of fun.
The Da Vinci Code will be returning to screens — just not the big screen. This story is set during a period where Langdon is essentially forced by the CIA onto one of its taskforces when his mentor is kidnapped, in order to investigate a myriad of chilling puzzles. For those who loved the movies starring Tom Hanks, there's no indication that Hanks will be involved since this story will be told from the perspective of a much younger Langdon. However, director Ron Howard is attached to executive produce Langdon along with his partner Brian Grazer. They've brought on Daniel Cerone to write the script. Cerone co-created NBC's short-lived cult classic Constantine , and has also wracked up plenty of experience in the crime thriller genre working on The Blacklist , The Mentalist , Dexter and also tackled the supernatural on Charmed. Those film adaptations of Dan Brown's books featured the Hanks version of the character investigating various deadly conspiracies relating to the Catholic Church and the secret society known as Opus Dei.
