Skip Beat – Episode 2
The script, execution, and acting are still fabulous, especially with the introduction of more characters, but I found myself wanting this story to get a move on. While I loved the few all-too-brief Gong Xi-Lian interactions, I missed seeing that jerk Shang around to liven up the proceedings. Gong Xi can be exceedingly outlandish on her own, and really needs either of the guys to pull her back down to earth a bit. Gong Xi vows to become a bigger star than Shang and screams out her plans for vengeance for the world to hear. In it, the host reveals that his daughter suffers from a debilitating illness and is wheelchair bound with no desire to socialize. Lian spies a lone figure running across the plaza below and entering the LME building.
Welcome, one and all, to another anime review. The protagonist of Skip Beat, Kyoko Mogami, is a fan of fairy tales. You see, when TV TOKYO decided that the best way to release the show to English speaking audiences was with an English voice cast, the whole release was thrown into doubt. So, even with a lot of support for the series, there was no interest from studios as far as actually recording the dub goes. Pied Piper stepped in and licensed the series, launching a Kickstarter campaign to get the dub funded. As such, what I expected was an entertaining rom-com with a Japanese edge. In the end, what I got was so much more.
The company has also set stretch goals to enhance the quality of the English dub by bringing notable voice actors, ADR directors, and scriptwriters on board. Stretch goals also include behind-the-scenes videos. The television version of Yoshiki Nakamura's Skip Beat! The series is available streaming on Crunchyroll. Viz Media publishes the original manga in North America.
I want a season 2 so bad. I just re-watched the anime and live-action and I am missing it so so much! Anime Season 2?
