Today we're going to talk about how to bind off on your knitting loom. I'll walk you through how to do a basic bind off, and then I'll shows you the steps for a stretchy bind off and explain it three different ways. When you do your bind off you can either work your last row and then come back to do the bind off, or work your last row and bind off as you move across which is what the diagrams show below. The advantage to this is that you can adjust your tension as you go so you don't end up with a super tight or loose bind off. Work your first two stitches as normal. Move the loop from peg 2 to peg 1. Pull the bottom loop over the top loop and the peg.
Looms shown varies and does not matter in bind off with appropriate yarn for the size of the loom. I kept getting one end that was wider and the other tighter regardless of the type of loom or yarn. It looked odd and I needed to find a better solution to a technique that was pretty good and seemed to work for other people but not me. I had seen someone add a crochet single stitch and I tried that. It was alright but left a tiny hole. I was frustrated. I played around and changed just one thing. Once I tighten my loose ends from my cast-on I ended up with clean edges, squared points and identical widths on both ends I was one happy Loomy.
Knitting looms create neat looking garments without the hassle of using knitting needles, counting stitches, and using knitting patterns. You can easily make a scarf with a knitting loom, and it is a great project for beginners. Try making a scarf for yourself or as a gift for a friend! If you want to knit a scarf on a loom, cast on your yarn by wrapping it around the inside of the first peg on the lower row. Bring the yarn around the outside and back towards the center, then wrap the yarn around the first peg on the upper row, starting on the inside so it forms a figure eight. Wrap the yarn around the pegs in figures of eight until you get to the last one on the top row, which you should loop in the opposite direction.
