Jessica dresses like a dragon
Dragon Flight (Dragon Slippers, #2) by Jessica Day GeorgeDefinitely a worthy sequel to Dragon Slippers, especially concerning the fact that Dragon Slippers wasnt supposed to have a sequel. Just as in the first book, Dragon Flight is a creative and humorous story with a clever and inviting writing style. Flight may even be better than Slippers... I cant decide.
I wasnt particularly impressed at the beginning of the story. The whole almost-dying-but-not-actually think is kind of cliché, and felt very plot device-y. But in the end, I didnt at all mind having Shardas back--I love it. Hes so cool. <3 Also, I was slightly put off but at the same time interested in the vague plot given at the beginning. Oh look, the country is randomly being attacked... thats annoying. But I knew from Dragon Slippers that there would certainly come more depth to the plot in time. I was right. I became more than interested in the story. I was wrapped up in it, enthralled. More so than in Slippers, I believe.
The story curve was also sort of weird... the powerful climactic moments happened in the middle of the book. However, it wasnt at all bad. Its certainly better than the two or so pages of resolution that some books have. Dragon Flight was a great and happy book with a bunch of great ideas and plot twists.
Now that this is a series, Id love another sequel. Im sure that if Jessica Day George can spin a second Dragon War that still feels completely original and makes for such an excellent book, she can do it again... or even come up with a completely new idea.
What gives him the right?! Just thinking about it makes my blood boil!!! A girl from a good home, Jessica comes from a wealthy family in the small village of Alexandria. However, contrary to her upbringing, she is unskilled in the social niceties and expected behaviour of her environment, which often leads to conflict with her mother. She joins up with the Hero for personal reasons, strengthening the party with her flair for offensive magic. A definite firebrand, Jessica is nothing like her mother, who expects her to be prim and proper in public. Magic is far from Jessica's only strength; she is also an outstanding fighter.
