Watched Sep 10 , Seems as if I'm in the minority in thinking that this is the best, or at least the most thematically complex of the late-period Antoine Doinel films AKA any one of them post Blows, because how can you compare the rest of the series to what may be cinema's greatest coming of age film? I understand the complaints about Truffaut's excessive use of flash-back here, but these cinematic recollections serve a purpose, simultaneously illuminating the contrast between one's past and one's present, whilst singling in on what may be the most prominent idea within all of Truffaut's filmography - the belief that life is nothing more than a series of small yet monumental moments there'd also been enough time between viewings that seeing past footage felt refreshing rather than tiring, although I'm not sure if the effect would be different if the films were watched in quick succession. Truffaut's direction is at it's subdued best here, no longer feeling the need to overwhelm every moment of emotion with a disconcerting barrage of zooms, pans and cuts, and instead, taking cues from fellow new-waver Eric Rohmer the blatant reference to Rohmer's Perceval solidified for me the influence that he seems to have had on late period Truffaut. He now creates cinema with only the smallest of gestures - Antoine slowly separating himself from his inevitable divorce settlement, the camera quietly following him, now apart from the tragic minutia of marital law and framed in front of a single, effervescent window, all of this occurring within a single take. It's a combination of calculated restraint and cinematic flair, Truffaut's penchant for stylistic flourish still bubbling every so subtly below the film's measured surface. To top this off, Truffaut's script finds him at his most self-reflexive, openly critical of Antoine's view of love, of his penchant for turning reality into fiction a habit Truffaut seems to be grappling with himself here , and extremely generous in the way it finally gives a voice and agency to the women of this series.

Love on the Run is a American romantic comedy film directed by W. Van Dyke and produced by Joseph L. It stars Joan Crawford , Clark Gable , Franchot Tone and Reginald Owen in a story about rival newspaper correspondents assigned to cover the marriage of a socialite. Love on the Run is the seventh of eight cinematic collaborations between Crawford and Gable. When Mike sees Sally running out of the church, he follows her, hoping to get a story. He then sneaks into Sally's hotel room, tells her that he has admired her for years, and suggests that he help her "get away from it all.

Truffaut reasoned that a Doinel film would be both easy to shoot and commercially dependable. It was not as smooth a process as he might have hoped. Pisier thought that the film should end with Antoine and Colette getting together at last; Truffaut disagreed.

I'm dangerously close, close to the edge It's evident we've both, both lost our heads But I don't wanna slow down. It feels like it's love on the run Have you ever felt a heat like this In the fast lane with your foot held down? No i never felt a rush so quick Like an Earthquaka underneath the ground You know what? Don't care what anyone says Yeah, we are just like two rebels that head for the stars And no one else has the keys to our hearts, hearts, hearts I'm dangerously close, close to the edge It's evidence we've both, both lost our heads But I don't wanna slow down it Feels like it's love on the run It's deadly when we kiss all through the night But I got a feeling we'll be alright And i don't wanna slow down It feels like it's love on the run Have you ever feel a touch so strong That the whole world faded out of sight? And you're messed up but youre holding on And you know you're in it for the ride You know what? Don't care what anyone says Yeah, we are just like two rebels that head for the stars And no one else has the keys to our hearts, hearts, hearts I'm dangerously close, close to the edge It's evident we've both, both lost our heads But I don't wanna slow down It feels like it's love on the run It's deadly when we kiss all through the night But I got a feeling we'll be alright And i don't wanna slow down It feels like it's love on the run We can do what we want to, yeah Tell me, what are they gon' do? Yeah, yeah, yeah It's I'm dangerously close, close to the edge It's evident we've both, both lost our heads But i don't wanna slow down It feels like it's love on the run It's deadly when we kiss all through the night But i got a feeling we'll be alright And i don't wanna slow down It feels like it's love on the run.
