In 2013, Sheryl Sandbergs Lean In became a massive cultural phenomenon and its title became an instant catchphrase for empowering women. The book soared to the top of best-seller lists both nationally and internationally, igniting global conversations about women and ambition. Sandberg packed theaters, dominated op-ed pages, appeared on every major television show and on the cover of TIME magazine, and sparked ferocious debate about women and leadership.
Now, this enhanced edition provides the entire text of the original book updated with more recent statistics and features a passionate letter from Sandberg encouraging graduates to find and commit to work they love. According to IFPI , "Lean On" was the fifth best selling song of worldwide, and one of the best-selling singles of all time , with global sales of It was a strong hook. Very big to me but the production was lacking an attitude we needed. A year later I remixed the song at a completely different tempo and asked DJ Snake for a signature post chorus. We're super proud of this song.
Though it has a fairly constant musical and lyrical theme running through it, the Lean on Me soundtrack still comes off as a hodgepodge. The slick, synthesizer-heavy version of "Lean on Me" that starts the album verges on treacly, and then gives way to the nihilistic bile of "Welcome to the Jungle," which makes for a jarring transition. The album, however, does do the service of unearthing a truly lost classic from the neglected Stetsasonic. The remainder is middling, even the Big Daddy Kane cut, which is a real disappointment since good tracks that match his lyrical talents with good production are hard to find. This isn't it.

Sometimes in our lives We all have pain, we all have sorrow But if we are wise We know that there's always tomorrow Lean on me when you're not strong And I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on For it won't be long 'Til I'm gonna need somebody to lean on Please, swallow your pride If I have things you need to borrow For no one can fill those of your needs That you won't let show You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand We all need somebody to lean on I just might have a problem that you'll understand We all need somebody to lean on.
