World History: The Modern Era by Elisabeth Gaynor Ellis

A good history book that is more western civilization than a full modern world history. This is a standard textbook used in our local school district for 9th grade. I would have hoped for more focus on the rest of the world as well as contributions and insight of other Countries and Empires such as China, Japan, Russia, Ottomans, Persians, and Mongolians. In addition, the teaching material could be more organized and online. The CDs that accompany the book with lesson plans and teaching materials are straight forward worksheets and assessments arent organized very well and dont provide a breadth or depth of enriching activities that would make lessons really come alive for the students.
