Elouise (Lou) Parker is determined to have the absolute best, most impossibly epic summer of her life. There are just a few things standing in her way:

* Shes landed a job at Magic Castle Playland . . . as a giant dancing hot dog.
* Her crush, the dreamy Diving Pirate Nick, already has a girlfriend, who is literally the Princess of the park. But Lous never liked anyone, guy or otherwise, this much before, and now she wants a chance at her own happily ever after.
* Her best friend, Seeley, the carousel operator, whos always been up for anything, suddenly isnt when it comes to Lous quest to set her up with the perfect girl or Lous scheme to get close to Nick.
* And it turns out that this will be their last summer at Magic Castle Playland--ever--unless she can find a way to stop it from closing.

Jennifer Dugans sparkling debut coming-of-age queer romance stars a princess, a pirate, a hot dog, and a carousel operator who find love--and themselves--in unexpected people and unforgettable places.

How the best salespeople read between the lines

Reading between the lines, or interpreting the hidden meanings of what people say, is a skill that you can learn. While you may not always be able to figure out exactly what someone might have meant, you can get a good idea. Make sure to look at the big picture when reading between the lines. Pay attention to their words, their body language, and the situation. Body language can tell you a lot about a person's emotions. Dan Klein, an improv and storytelling teacher, says: "Our voices express some of our emotions, but our bodies express everything.

You know how Google will ask if you meant another spelling of the word when you type something wrong? It is also kind enough to give you lists of what you probably meant. Perhaps some kind engineer will come up with a tool so we can see what they really meant flash on their forehead just a thought! Engineers, get to work on that one, okay? This is imperative with relationship marketing. You have to find out not just what is being said with the actual words, but use your broader observational skills to piece other communication components together. Was it something you said or did?

For the past two years, I worked for an independent press specializing in architecture, graphic design, and visual culture , which means I got to work with a lovely array of books and indulge, on a daily basis, the side of me that's been interested in graphic design since my teenage years doing paste-ups and layouts for my high school newspaper. Whether flipping through instructional books on grid systems by Kimberly Elam, drooling over awe of a beautiful, gold-bound book on Robert Brownjohn, educating myself on Mies van der Rohe, or feasting on the eye candy of Mike Perry's hand-drawn type, I have to admit that I was and still am a huge fangirl of my former workplace. But what I learned in my time of being so exposed to design books and design-heads is this: design and literature are both as antithetical and co-dependent as two things can get. As a college graduate only formally trained in the appreciation of literature and its accompanying theories, I find this both intriguing and troubling: what may look like a glut of black noodles bathing in an aesthetic, spatial harmony of white soup to one may simply read as black type on white paper to the other. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. A chunk of Proust might as well be a chunk of lorem ipsum and vice versa.

"Lines" refers to lines of text on a printed page. He gave a very diplomatic explanation, but if you read between the lines, it seems like he was fired for political.

What's the meaning of the phrase 'Read between the lines'?

Add read between the lines to one of your lists below, or create a new one. Weighed down or perking up? Phrasal verbs to express emotions, part 1.

However, reading is an incredibly valuable skill and can improve your English in many ways. There are some great resources you can use to improve your reading. One of my favourites is the website Breaking News English. It uses up-to-date news, split into levels depending on your ability. All of the texts also give you several activities to test your comprehension of the articles, to study difficult vocabulary, and learn something interesting about the world. Another excellent idea is to use a graded reader.

These attitudes to literature result from the fact that many people have not been taught the advanced comprehension skill of reading between the lines.
