Illustrated world war ii encyclopedia set of 24 volumes
Illustrated World War II Encyclopedia, Set by Eddy BauerAlthough sometimes soured by organizational issues (the index SUUUUCKS ) this set is essential to any World War II enthusiast. I have had this set since my nonno (grandfather in Italian) gave it to me after he found out I was interested in World War II. The set is comprehensive and not too hard to read, as well as being full of maps, charts, and old propaganda posters. The only bad part of it is the aforementioned index. The set has page numbers running from the 1st book until the 24th book, making navigation a chore when the index references page numbers and not books (ex: the index might say Stalingrad-pg.1782, which is a pain to find). In the end I labelled sticky notes with the page numbers each book contained and stuck them to the front cover of each book. Besides the index this is a compelling, interesting read for anyone who wants to learn more about World War II.
