Slow Waltz In Cedar Bend by Robert James Waller

Im making an effort to read some of the books that Ive accumulated from other people over the years, things that I wouldnt normally read. This was one of those books. There were several things to dislike about it, for me.

First, its a romance about adultery. What is Wallers deal with this? I dont get it. Why does he keep trying to make adultery okay? Jimmy Braden was kind of boring but, its not like he was abusive or an a-hole.

Second, what attracted these two people to each other? I never really got it. I never quite understood why Michael was so infatuated that he followed this woman halfway around the world.

Third, really? There was no fallout when he found Jellie? Sure, right. It went way too smoothly.

Fourth, Jellie was kind of a d-bag.

It wasnt SO terrible that I was unable to slog through it but, it was still pretty bad. Im happy to get this book off my bookshelf and out of my house.

With his second book, half played out in India, he establishes himself as the maestro of the middle-aged romance, but this time he blasts a trumpet into his readers' ears.

Original edition of 'Bridges' by Warner Books, Born in , Waller had grown up on a farm in Iowa, and had become something of a basketball player while in high school, winning a four-year athletic scholarship to the University of Iowa. However, after a year, he left the university and his scholarship, transferring to Iowa State Teachers College, later named Northern Iowa University. There he continued to play basketball, though quitting the sport in his senior year to pursue other interests. At Northern Iowa he received a BA in Business Education, met his wife, and began to develop interests in music and literature. By he also earned a Masters in Education from Northern Iowa.
