I have been feeling quite sad for the last four months, but lately I feel really low and sad all of the time. This has got even worse during the last few weeks because I have got really low — to the point of contemplating suicide. I have been turning to alcohol to feel better, and more recently drugs, but these make me feel even worse. I do not think there is any doubt from what you have said that you are suffering from a significant clinical depression here, and you need urgent help. I note what you have said about doctors but any doctor who listens to what you are saying will take you very seriously, and will start treatment to make you feel much better quickly. Alcohol and drugs will simply worsen the situation, and if you are contemplating suicide you must ring your doctor today and get an urgent appointment.
