A Smarter Way to Learn JavaScript: The new approach that uses technology to cut your effort in half by Mark Myers

Great intro to JavaScript , especially as a first programming language

Pros:
-Gets you writing code quickly
-Includes online practice problems, that if completed, really help you retain the information
-Doesnt assume previous programming experience and has clear explanations where needed
-Author asks for and responds to feedback

Cons:
-wont be the only JavaScript book you need, as it doesnt really cover design patterns, or any super in depth stuff
-doesnt go over any of the new ES6 stuff

This was my first programming book and Im glad it was. I couldnt recommend it enough to people who have never programmed before and decided to make JavaScript their first programming language. After you finish this book, I would recommend reading some others to round out some of the topics and go a little more in depth, but that is to be expected since this isnt meant to be an all inclusive book.

Java is one of those languages that some may say is difficult to learn, while others think that it has the same learning curve as other languages. Both observations are correct.

10 Ways to Learn Java in just a Couple of Weeks

Java is not to be confused with JavaScript, it has been built as a Write once, run anywhere language — which in simple technical terms means that it can be run on pretty much any device that there is. We interact with Java on a daily basis, whether we acknowledge that fact or not, and on many occasions — a website might tell us that we need to install Java in order to browse it, this goes a lot for websites that are flash dependent and have some kind of flash components integrated within the core system. Its history with security issues is not one of the most pleasant, but for the most part, it has made the language as mature as it is. From laptops to datacenters, game consoles to scientific supercomputers, cell phones to the Internet, Java is everywhere! The salaries differ according to the corporation they work for and the country they live in.

There are plenty of compelling reasons to learn Java coding, even if you're a beginner. Java is a popular programming language, known for its reliability, versatility, and backwards compatibility meaning it works with older legacy systems. It can also run on almost every computer without changing behavior. But is Java hard to learn? The simple answer is that yes, it can be tricky.
